The devil, they say, is in the details. I’m sure you remember a few years ago the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. If you flew during that time, you would have seen flyers saying NO Galaxy Note 7 phones allowed on board.
The nuttiest part? The Galaxy Note 7 could overheat and catch fire because the battery compartment was a millimeter too tight leading to shorts and ignitions in a device that was otherwise a technological marvel. The manufacturer, Samsung lost BILLIONS and suffered brand damage.
Yes, I do have a point with this. Look at the chart on the left (or above on mobile) that a friend of mine shared with me. Part of it shows why my strategy works well: Focus on content, don’t rely on backlinks.
Part of it also shows why my site is in such a mess. I’ve got thousands of posts and I’ve made a few “millimeter-wide” mistakes along the way that compounded into SEO sabotage.
The bigger the site, the bigger the problems
The bigger the site, the bigger the technical factors become a ballooning problem. You might not realize it, but a few small technical errors might not sink your site right away, but they compound over hundreds of posts and over the years to create an SEO nightmare. I’m currently paying a hefty price for that oversight.
Time to detox
It’s nuts that health also works that way. Eating junk food won’t worsen your wellbeing. But eating it every day over years wrecks your health. Ask any health professional to fix it and they will all recommend some form of detox. A reset of the body.
Your site too needs a detox. If it’s been around for two years, there’s stuff that creeped in that you won’t be aware of. Navigation errors. Unchecked image sizes. Schema isn’t on all the pages like you believed they were. There’s so many issues that can creep up that you happily ignored because the ad revenue kept going up.

The whole report was actionable but probably my favorite part was the dedicated action checklist. When there’s a lot of issues to be fixed this can quickly get overwhelming…that’s where the action list comes in. That spreadsheet had everything neatly laid out: What was critical to get to ASAP to the other items that could wait. Detoxing your site has never been so straightforward.

Just like if you wanted to go on a date, you would dress up attractively for the other person, you also need to make your site attractive to Google. And things like the lack of Schema, Alt text, TTFB & more are like showing up on a date with smelly breath and stains on your jacket: You just won’t get the effect you want to.
A site audit is even more critical if you’ve never had one. Small technical issues easily compound over dozens of posts and over years that only a good site audit like 201’s can surface. By the way, I’ve had many site audits before and they never picked up some of the things that 201 Creative picked up.
