  1. This is some great content ! It’s actually better detail on choosing a niche than in your authority site blog course. I actually think I choose the wrong niche and may have to reconsider. FYI I think the course is worth it and would recommend it. It’s maybe too adavanced.l for some including me. I’m new to a lot of it most recently coming from app Dev world. Something you might consider is a membership site probably in the form of a forum for the authority course members. Maybe something like an up sell for 6 or 3 months access and then monthly membership.

    1. Hey Rick, thanks for the feedback. I would love to get a membership site going. I’m just so busy with my other niches… but I am research membership software and have the outline for video tutorials. I’ve had a lot of requests for something like a forum which I’m also considering. Again, thanks for the feedback.

  2. Dear John:
Let me tell you first that I admire what you do and your accomplishments.
This is very good information, generously given free, which I have not found anywhere else. Thank you much
I would like to be ablefollow (at a large distance) in your footsteps but I am afraid even of starting off on anything (difficult to pick among the many proposal you can find around).
I am a newbies , I would like you to advise me please on a products of yours which is easy to follow, to copy, and is very hands.on, very explanatory on HOW to do the things, one with which I will be be able to generate around $1,000 a month in a reasonable time.
Do you think the NICHE SNIPER, or the NICHE TYCOON could be something I should take into consideration, or something simpler.
    Please advise.

    1. Hey Phil,

Niche Tycoon and Niche Sniper are very different. Niche Tycoon focuses on building large sites monetized primarily with display ads and affiliate offers. Niche Sniper is about working in narrow niches where the visitor value is high and includes email marketing and affiliate offers. Display ads don’t really come into play.

      1. Hi Jon

You mention a 6 month course.

I just brought your Niche Tycoon course this week and have already started but would love to hear more of your personal coaching program.

        Thanks
        Simon

        1. Hey Simon,

I rolled out a one-on-one coaching course about 6 weeks ago. Doors are closed now, but I may launch again later in the year. If you’re on my email list I’ll let you know if/when the doors open again. Thanks for asking.

  3. Hey Jon,

Big fan of your blog and podcast. This info is timely, since I’m just getting my feet wet. I’ve narrowed it down to a few contenders, but can be swayed either way.

What do you think of the following:

Dogs – Not sure I should go with a single breed, or class or dogs, or try and talk about all breeds and areas (i.e. training, accessories, food, etc.)…I was told it’s better to focus in around a tight niche that lends itself to digital products and list building as well. Your thoughts?

Luxury – Seems to me that a number of those topics could be sub-categories under the broader niche. Not sure how wide I should go (e.g Maybe homes, cars, net worth, gear, etc.) or maybe it should be a narrow (e.g. Watches, handbags, etc.). Don’t think there would be infoproduct potential and again, not sure if it matters.

Photography – Thought I could do something with landscape or maybe digital photography. Was thinking it could be a tad too competitive, but there seem to be a lot of keywords. Wondering how hard it might be to get traffic. Saw this site awhile back and was intrigued – https://improvephotography.com/.

That’s what’s on my short list, would like to know your feedback. Btw, you seem to have quite a few courses. Is there a particular one of two that you would recommend to someone like me looking to get things going? I’m not totally green, but most of what I know has been from reading to this point without much in the way of practical application. Cheers.

    Martin

    1. Hey Martin,

If it were me, I’d go with Dogs or Photography. I particularly like the photography niche even though I’m not in it. As for dogs, I hear you about focusing on a breed or something like that but I would still register a fairly broad domain to give yourself options down the road.

      1. Hey Jon,

Thanks for the quick response. Is there anything wrong with the Luxury niche per se, or are those just your top 2 choices out of the three? Is there money to be made with a luxury site too? I have a few friends with some sweet watches, so figured there was a good market there as well.

        Martin
